2021 High School Admissions Information
COVID-19 has had a profound impact across every aspect of our school system, including the admissions process. As a result, we’re updating our pre-pandemic admissions timeline, as outlined in the 2021 NYC High School and Specialized High Schools Admissions Guide, to ensure ample time for families to explore schools and apply once the application launches. Please note:
- The high school application is not yet open, and no longer closes on December 4, 2020. Families will have additional time to apply.
- Registration for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) and LaGuardia High School auditions is not yet open, and no longer closes on October 21, 2020. You will have additional time to register.
- Dates and locations for the high school fairs, the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), and LaGuardia High School auditions—as listed in the 2021 NYC High School and Specialized High Schools Admissions Guide—will also change.
Families and staff can find the most up-to-date Information about admissions and high schools online:
- The searchable online high school directory in MySchools is updated with school information for 2021 admissions. Families and school staff can use this searchable directory in English and the nine DOE languages without logging into their MySchools account.
- The 2021 NYC High School and Specialized High Schools Admissions Guide is available online, both digitally and as a PDF, at schools.nyc.gov/High. Everyone (including families, school staff, and DOE staff) can access these resources in English and the nine DOE languages.
- Information about admissions for the Specialized High Schools is at schools.nyc.gov/SHS.
- The new High School Admissions Video Series is now available, and more videos will be added soon: schools.nyc.gov/HSVideos

I am writing to ask for your assistance in helping to promote NEW DORP HIGH SCHOOL’S VIRTUAL INFORMATION SESSIONS that will begin on Monday, November 16, 2020 and run through December 3, 2020. Live virtual meetings will be streamed for each of our Smaller Learning Communities. Each event is by reservation only with a limit of 300 at each event.

The DOE will host citywide Virtual Career and Technical Education (CTE) High School (Open external link)Fairs on multiple dates between Monday, November 16 to Saturday, December 5, 2020. These virtual events will provide middle school students, parents, guardians, and families an opportunity to interact with leaders and students from CTE schools and programs. The events are organized by borough but open to all families citywide. The events will also showcase industry and college partners collaborating with CTE programs. The virtual CTE HS fairs will include programs that provide pathways to success in the following
